Affinity Groups

Affinity Groups model real world associations or organizations. They serve to connect people not otherwise connected through a common group context or cause - such as cancer research.

Affinity Groups foster greater collaboration and accelerate innovation by enabling:

Virtual decentralized knowledge repositories
Each member in the group can contribute files, blogs and other data to the group. This content does not need to be uploaded or pushed to a central server but rather, is served up directly from the member's hard-drive and replicated as needed across the network. This model allows the construction of a very large and searchable decentralized knowledge repository that, unlike portal solutions, is not maintained by any one person or organization but by the content owners themselves. There is no uploading or extra administration required on their part - WiredReach simply adapts to how they naturally work and collaborate with others.

Connects information to people
Unlike traditional search engines that connect information to yet more information, WiredReach connects information to people. It does so by overlaying a user's extended social network (Trusted User Network) over an affinity group and visually depicts the connections between information and people. This serves to further lower the barriers to communication among members.

Discover other people like you
WiredReach can optionally match you to other people in the network that share common interests based on blog postings, file content or user profiles.

Realtime and non-realtime conversations
WiredReach supports various one-to-one and one-to-many communication options like chat rooms and group blogging. Other groupware tools like wikis and screen sharing can be added as plug-ins to the platform.

Hierarchical group syndication
An Affinity Group can be organized into several groups and sub-groups depending on the needs of the organization. Users may be part of some or all these groups and play different roles in each.
